TALLAHASSEE LEGISLATIVE DAYS

WHEN?  Monday, February 6 and Tuesday, February 7, 2012
 

WHERE?  Accommodations provided at $89.00 per night at Holiday Inn Capitol East, 1355 Appalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, Fl., 32301. Phone:  850-877-3171. Hot breakfast included in price. Free parking. Space for three buses available at hotel parking lot. Many surrounding restaurants. Hotel attached to Applebees.
 

TRANSIT FROM/TO HOTEL AND CAPITOL: Low taxi fare, public bus transportation, shuttle from nearby Governor’s Mall. Short drive to Capitol parking if drive on your own.

SCHEDULE:

MONDAY- DWCF quarterly meeting may be held from 8-9:30 am, followed by a snack break. If quarterly mtg. is not held, speakers will begin at 8:00 pm. If quarterly meeting is held, speakers will begin at 10:00 which will include lobbyists and legislators. Snacks and lunch will be catered at $25 per attendee. Supper on your own. 2012 campaign kick-off dessert reception with legislators and FDP dignitaries present in evening.    

TUESDAY-

MORNING: Optional historical tours in am at Capitol Museum and Old Capitol Museum have been scheduled. Visit your legislators and view legislative sessions. DWCF capitol media event in late morning.

AFTERNOON: DWCF capitol media event, ending with plan of action session facilitated by Loranne Ausley back at hotel. Gift drawings will announced.

To make plans to go to Tally Days:

1. Make your Hotel reservations by Thursday, January 19, 2012.

2. Each President is to email Maureen McKenna with how many and names of attendees from your club who will be attending by Thursday, January 19, 2012 at momcken@yahoo.com. Each person attending must pay for the cost of the meals on Monday ($25).

3. Please let Maureen know if there are any vegetarian, vegan or special meal preferences requested in your email.

4. Please let Grace Gillen know which attendees will be participating in Tuesday's morning optional Historical tours of capitol. Grace Gillen's email is Gillen1001@comcast.net. 

There will be two tours. Tours are free but donations are requested.  

Capitol Museum:            9:00 am and 10:00 am

Old Capitol Museum:      9:00 am and 10:00 am

5. Each President is to send the list of attendees and an accompanying check (one check from each club) for $25 per attendee to be delivered to Marie Varon by Monday, January 23, 2012 to:

6. There will be gift drawings which will be given away on Tuesday afternoon. Each club is asked to bring an item(s) for the drawing to the registration table Monday morning.  Submit your donations to Kathleen Trued. Kathleen's contact information is kjsjtj@aol.com at 904 599 7778.  Value of donated item is suggested to be $5-10 per registered attendee. This is NOT a white elephant (used items) drawing. This is a fundraiser to offset the cost of this event.

7. Clubs will be allowed to have vendors’ tables which will offer Democratic jewelry and political items only. Legislative Education tables are also allowed. Open times for vendor tables will be limited to breaks, lunch, after training and during supper hours on Monday. This will be strictly enforced in order to deter disruption of the training and to show respect for the speakers.  Cost of each vendor table will be $50 for the times allowed on Monday, February 6, 2011.
